Join the Culture Push Board and staff at The Old Stone House on October 23 at our costume-making benefit honoring Michael DiPietro! Michael DiPietro, Advisory Board member and multitalented artist, was the originator of Fashion Re/Action, the program that served as the prototype for the Fellowship for Utopian Practice. Through this evening of costume-making we will celebrate Michael's many contributions to Culture Push and his ongoing advocacy for experimentation in fashion and textile arts.
Talented artists Michael DiPietro, Esther Neff, and Andy Jordan will be there to help you create your best Halloween costume EVER.
6-7pm--Children's hour: Concentrating on the little ones, but all are welcome!
7-9:30 pm: Costume making, drinks, music and more!
9:30pm: Show & Tell! Costume-makers are invited to present their in-progress (or finished!) costumes to the rest of the guests
We will provide all of the materials, snacks, drinks, and expertise you will need, all you have to bring is an open mind.
Or, if paying by check or money order, send donations to: Culture Push, Inc 241 E. 7th St. #3C NY, NY10009
With this Benefit we are aiming to raise $15,000 to support our main program, The Fellowship for Utopian Practice, a process-based Fellowship that supports artists who are testing out ideas that bring together artistic practice, social justice, and civic engagement. The Fellowship gives nuts-and-bolts support, through a stipend, fiscal sponsorship, access to mentors in the field, and heightened legibility, as well as strategic planning and brainstorming help in developing an idea from the seed stage to a sustainable method. With funds from this benefit we would be able to increase the stipends for the Fellows, and take a step towards compensating artists fairly for the hard work they do.
Thank you to our fantastic Benefit Committee: Emily Blumenfield, Mark Bradford, Jill Dearman, Rody Douzoglou, Kemi Ilesanmi, Sally Szwed, Gregory Sholette, Aaron Landsman, and David Thomson.
A big thank you to our in-kind sponsors:
Thank you to Kati Lacker for our benefit design!
